Is it better to be born as a French monarch in 1700 or a regular person today?

Thanks to Liv Boeree and Igor Kurganov, two of my favorite twisted minds, for inspiring this week’s question.

___________

Imagine you’re told that reincarnation is, in fact, a thing—and you’re given two options for who to be born as in your next life:

1) Born in the year 1700 as the heir to the French throne

2) Born in the year 1985 to a family in a developed country with a household income equivalent to $70,000 in 2017 dollars

Which would you choose? All things considered, who’s the luckier baby?
